Happy Tuesday! This technique is a different and interesting way to combine your favorite products to get a really soft but sparkly look!
I'm going to be coloring in a "Bella" stamp from the shack called "Jill is TWO".
In this stamp set you get a very cute pouty little girl, and a phrase. I used the phrase by splitting it up. The outside of the card: Things . . . Inside: . . . Can only get better!
Let's get started! You'll need a crafters mat or wax paper, watercolor paper, some Pearl Ex or Perfect Pearls, water, Memento Ink pad in black, stamp, small paint brush, distress re inkers, and some copic pens to create the details. (Don't worry if you don't have Copic markers, you can substitute them with colored pencils or pens on hand. You might want to invest in some basic colors of Copics, because they really help to create great details)
After my image has been stamped I'm going to add a small amount of Distress re-inker in pink to my wax paper. Then I will add a little water, and some Pearl Ex. Mix well.
.
The more water you add the thinner the color gets. This will allow you to have various shades of the same color. When ever you want to lighten the color, pull some off to the side and lighten it with more water. This way you always have the deeper shade of color to pull from.
Start by painting your image with a light coat of the paint. For example here I painted her shirt a very pale pink. I let it sit for 30 seconds or so, dry my brush, and go back over the details with the darker tone of color. I applied the color by patting the image with my brush over and over again. It gives the image a muddled look that I really like. I repeated the process for each color and section that I painted. Don't be afraid to mix up your pearl to paint colors. For the pants I used broken china Distress re-inker, and purple Peral Ex.
When it's dry go over your image with your copics to add some fine detail.
I used EOOO & EOO for her skin. RV21 for her cheeks, R59 for the shirt, and COO & BVOOOO for the background.
For the background around her I wanted to add a little texture, so I used my pen to create random sized dots. The dots are closer together around her body, and get farther apart as they move out.
The finished card! Sweet and simple, and I love the phrase that comes with this card.
You really can't tell from the picture,
but when she's done the Pearl Ex adds a beautiful sparkle and shine to her.
